FULLY COACHED OPEN WATER SWIMMING CAMP - CHILI TRI, COMPETA, COSTA DEL SOL, SPAIN

This open water swimming camp is led by Karen Parnell Level 3 British Triathlon Federation and IRONMAN® Certified Coach and supported by BTF Coaches and experienced outdoor Swimming Guides. So, whether you are training for a triathlon, a long distance swim or want to improve your swimming technique this camp is for you!

ABILITY LEVEL: This camp is aimed at swimmers with some experience in open water swimming

3 DAY PRICE: €449 per person
Based on room share (2 people per room) or private room* in a Spanish villa with private pool or authentic Andalusian Spanish townhouse B&B.
*There is the option to have your own private room for 25€ per night single occupancy supplement.

Want to stay longer? Extra nights are just 65€ per night for an en-suite room with breakfast.

This exclusive camp is limited to 6 swimmers, fully coached in the amazing town of Cómpeta, Costa del Sol, Spain. If you are interested, we recommend booking by the end of August to avoid disappointment. 

COURSE OBJECTIVE

Improve the swimming efficiency of the participants, as well as your strategies to face your long distance open water swimming events or triathlon races.

What will you learn?

BALANCE AND STABILITY

Become 'weightless' by learning to cooperate with gravity instead of fighting it. Learning body balance transforms struggle into smoothness and calms churning legs. It also brings the body control and mental calm necessary to learn every skill that follows. We will build on your natural stroke using the latest swim coaching techniques. 

SWIMMING SMOOTHLY

We will use the very latest swim coaching techniques to assess your swimmer type and formulate a personal way to improve your stroke. We will do full video analysis - fully annotated in HUDL so you can view anytime. You will be able to look at the video when you return home so you can remember the key focal points specific to YOUR stroke.
We will also write a session plan you can take with you to help improve your stroke further when you return home.

Your safety is very important to us, so swimming is done with a tow float, kayak support and guide swimmers. It is necessary to ensure you have your own travel and health insurance.
Wetsuits and swim buoys/tow floats are compulsory so please plan to bring this with you.

CAMP ITINERARY

Day 1: Thursday

Arrival and welcome at the facilities of ChiliTri in Cómpeta
13:00 to 15:30 Welcome by the coaches to explain the objectives of the camp, the camp itinerary and gifts for the participants.
Technical analysis of the best Olympic & Triathlon swimmers, introduction to the latest swimming techniques, drills and kit.
Break 15:30 to 16:00
16:30 to 19:00 Initial Swimming Session in the 25m pool or Endless pool with video recording
19:30 to 20:30 Session of individual video analysis feedback for each participant by Karen
Free evening to explore the beautiful white washed village of Cómpeta.

Day 2: Friday

Morning:  Breakfast

7:00 to 12:00 Open Water Lake Swim. Travel to the Lake to swim in the clear water of a fresh water lake. Putting in to practice the techniques we have learnt.  

This will be a combination of open water skills and distance swimming to embed your new techniques

After the swim you can enjoy Tapas in a lake side bar, a wonderful setting for both the swim and tapas!. 

Strength and Conditioning for swimmer’s session at the side of the lake with Karen working on your key muscles for swim stroke efficiency.  

Travel back to Competa

20:30 Group BBQ at the Villa or Pizza night at a local restaurant.

Day 3: Saturday

Morning, Breakfast

7:30 Technical meeting to explain the open water sea swimming training session,
Travel to the coast
8:30 a.m. to 12:00 Open water training.
The swimming distances would be between 2km and 10km depending on your needs and level, where we will cover the Nerja coastline, with a great variety of stunning views. You get to put in to practice your new skills.
12:30 Lunch and Farewell drinks & close.

The price includes all coaching, accommodation, video analysis and feedback and all transfers to the training venues whilst on the camps. 

NOTE: Itinerary may change subject to weather conditions and/or venue availability.
Airport transfer, evening meals (except the BBQ/Pizza night) and lunches are not included.
Wetsuits are compulsory.



Meet The Team

Karen Parnell

Karen Parnell is the owner and Head Coach of Chili Tri in Andalucia, Southern Spain.
I am a keen triathlete and have competed in events in the US, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Spain and the UK.
My passion is to motivate, guide and coach people to achieve their own health, fitness and race goals.
I help people to meet their goals via personalised training programs, coaching, nutritional advice, guidance,
encouragement and motivation – a truly holistic approach.
Karen is a Level 3 British Triathlon Federation (BTF) Coach and Tutor, IRONMAN Certified Coach and qualified Personal Trainer.
I am also an Swim England (ASA) open water coach and specialise in Bike FTP testing, Stryd running power & gait analysis
and Swim video analysis.
I have a degree in Electronics and during my time in engineering was lucky enough to work with companies
such as Polar, Apple, Sony, LG and Samsung on health and fitness connected products. I’m still a great advocate
and user of this technology and use them in my athlete testing and training room here at Chili Tri. I use technology from Garmin, Stryd, Arion, Milestone, Elite, PowerTap, Info Crank and others to capture FTP, run power, efficiency over the swim, bike and run. This data is extremely useful to help athletes reach their full potential.

Karen has an MBA from Aston Business School and an Engineering degree from the University of Hertfordshire. 

Our coaches are BTF or IRONMAN certified coaches. Our Personal Trainers are registered with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
